A gentle bird looked outside bars, that enclosed her

She longed to feel a warm breeze beneath her wings

To fly across exotic lands

Maybe perching a while, observing all before her

To sing and be heard, appreciated, not cursed

She did not know how?

It existed, she felt it

Was natural, She just knew it

Thing is!

The locked cage did not hold her

She’ll easily squeeze between, pliant bars

It was the fear of failure, that held her captive

Fear of the fall, once through

Imagination kept her safe, secure

A life of pretending

Will do.
